sponsoring more

Fact or Opinion?

Everybody knows the point is to get more people sponsoring, not sponsoring more yourself.

I’d be remiss if I did not share that this really is a mini-rant.

If we don’t know the most important thing in the recruiting process then we simply cannot teach it.

Let’s face it, we simply cannot teach what we do not know, eh?

The biggest reason teams stall is that they simply are not taught this common sense fact.   Twain wrote, “Common sense isn’t so common,” and we don’t need to look any further than at our ‘tribe’ to see Twain was dead center correct.

This is not an opinion, it is a simple fact, and once we ‘get it’ our businesses change and so do the results.   We hit the ‘sweet spot.’

Sweet spot?

More people sponsoring.

Is there anything more important than teams sponsoring more people, without you?

Here you go… changed our career.

The Mini Rant

You tell me if you agree with this.  When we recruit a person we are rattling their dream chamber.

In truth, we are making a direct or implied promise that we can help them improve their lives.

If we give them a ‘script’ and tell them to set appointments, we are feeding them to the sharks.

Can they answer questions about the plan?

The company?

The product?

Of course not.

It’s like feeding them to the sharks.

One, ahem,’ iconic figure’ who fancies himself as a ‘trainer’  shared his script that ‘prevents prospects from asking questions.’

It basically tells the new rep to tell the prospect, after asking for a couple minutes, to say, ‘I don’t have much time, I’ve got another appointment’.  They are taught if the prospects ask any questions to repeat the ‘appointment’ and just set an appointment.

Does that piss you off too?

Basically, this clown is telling prospects that the company and his team is all about integrity then as soon as they get started, he’s telling them to lie!  Good grief.

If You Help them, they'll help others
If You Help them, they’ll help others

Clearly, this is not the way to go.   What would you think if you were given a script and told to lie?

You tell me – would you rather have an upline that works with you and teaches you what to do by doing it with you, or one that tells you how they are going to support you only to discover that support was a script that bends the truth?

80-95% Instantly say Yes

What if, in a couple of 3-way sessions, you could show someone how to get a ‘yes’, rejection-free, in the first 10-17 second?

It’s what people want.  The skills and hands-on support.

And it is the right thing to do.

The thrill of helping people learn a couple easy skills and earn money for them pays bigger dividends than we can imagine, because they will repeat the pattern.

And you’ll have more people sponsoring, helping each other and fulfilling that initial promise you made to help them get a different outcome if they join you.

Thursday you can grab that skill, getting a yes fast and rejections free… as the Go90Grow© free video series will be re-posted… you can get it a day early of you want here.

And here’s the skill I tell you about in the video, you’ll find several more in addition to the ‘What Goes Through The Prospect’s Head’ network marketing skill… all free of course.

About the Author

  • Hey Mark – as always you are on the money. I’ve been thrown to the sharks a few times in the past and despite my thick skin, clear communication skills and abundant confidence… it is still a very painful experience!

I remember one guy telling me to make all my calls standing up (moving around the room if I could) so that I would sound very busy and then when I said to the prospect “look, I’m about to go on another call.. let’s talk again later when you’ve watched the video etc” it would sound more believable (even though it was a big fat lie) 😉

I even remember using the “I’m in a hurry” script one day with a waiter in a restaurant. I’d just ordered a meal. He served me and so was right within my 3 feet space for “the pitch”… so I pitched! Then quickly, when he looked a little interested I said “anyway, I don’t have too much time right now, maybe we can talk tomorrow..” -> 🙂 you got it.. he answered “But you’ve just ordered a meal.. it’ll be at least 15 minutes until it arrives – tell me now what its about.” haha.. what a fool I was!

Keep telling the truth Mark. Love your stuff!

  • Dear Mark,
You are sooooo on spot with this onr. Thanks for bringing this to the forefront of our business. PEACE

  • Mark, your straight forward, no b.s., tell it like it is delivery is refreshing and real. Keep doing what you’re doing!

  • Great information, makes so much sense! Thanks for sharing this with me. I’ve sent this to my up line to see what they will do with it! Looking forward to the series starting on the 13th …

  • Spot on as always Mark. I have been using and teaching your skills for the past 18 months. It has helped me build the largest team that I have ever built and in the shortest time.
I first thought that I didn’t have the time to do all the “hand holding” with my new recruits. Once I saw them teaching what I taught them the light went on. I now have teams building teams without me. I never had that before using these skills.
Thanks for everything that you do.

  • You are so right! If you are going to lead by example, then you need to be in the trenches with the people you enroll. This is a new type of business and if you want someone to be successful, you have to set them up for success! In my follow-up, we sit down and go over their why, talk about their economic goals, and then (because of your training) tell a few stories and build a list! We identify a few people and make some calls and schedule action. What a difference! Since listening to your trainings, my business is back in growth mode! I have always been hands on, but your training has helped me to teach key skills that I just assumed people had. Now we are developing leadership!

  • A breath of fresh air! I’ve never made calls with prospects and have a big frog to eat to get over this one. I know I’ve just got to do it – it makes so much sense. It would help having an upline to help me through the first few calls – so I will just have to become that upline for my team …

  • Hi Mark
Your method is so clear and simple and it WORKS. People mostly adopt the attitude of monkey see monkey do. That is why working hands on is the ONLY thing that really works. People are more comfortable working with a professional and it is coaching and teaching by doing with people. Love your teaching. Roy Slater UK

  • KISS – You are Right On Brother! This is not about selling widgets. It is about helping people. Helping people help themselves. Yes! I has taken a year or so but I’ve got it!
Thank you Mark. Think and Grow Rich Indeed!

  • I have been affiliated with this industry for 38 years! Yikes! Not knowing and then following this advice has cost me and many others much heartache and much money. Mark, you know of what you speak. This is the key to success. It also will help you determine very quickly if you have enrolled the right person. Follow these instructions, HANDS ON, and your Hero’s Journey will be a happy one. Bruce in Rockville, MD

  • I love your rants and this was a particularily good one as it is clear to me I need practice on this one….so Thanks 🙂

  • being “brought in” and NOT worked with unfortunately has been a pattern in my MLM experience 99% of the time; since being introduced to your vids/blogs & Go90Grow program I BELIEVE I am becoming the change I so yearn to see, especially starting @ home with letting my loved ones know they come first. Thanks, Mark, Davene & Kathy Z ~ Mahalo

  • Mark,

How does one man have so much skill? Love your teaching, you are the real deal!!

    Cheers, PG 🙂

  • Yes I am sick of going it alone. Calling and Talking to people. Give me a system that does not need me to belong to the NFL Club. In case for those of you that don’t know about the NFL Club it stands for(No Friends Left)

  • This video is very eye-opening! I love how you not only teach the principles, but also the logic and reasoning behind it! I have a question though, so based on your video, even if you wanted to prospect someone from your list, even at your level of success, you would still get someone else on the phone to do the talking for you? Or do you get to a point to where you just explain to the prospect that you are talking because you’re comfortable doing so but the prospect would only have to introduce you when they get started (but then this way your not showing the prospect how they would be doing it, you would just be telling them…).

  • Only 2 people on my upteam have consistently helped me. One other sets half hour time slots/day then changes her mind. I’m solo now, but would have appreciated more help, and probably would have gotten over the fear alot sooner. This is great advice!! I will do much better for my downline because I know how it feels.

  • Love, love, love your concepts! You’re teaching the true basics which we veterans used to enjoy success in this industry. Thank you for sharing such great information.

  • I had modest success in my first 5 years before I discovered your training but since I’ve now stopped unknowingly throwing newbies to the wolves, my business is growing faster than ever before. My new people are staying engaged, experiencing success, and everything has changed for the better!

  • thanks for all your tips and insites
I can see several of my former upline, haveing done this to me
I hope i always did my best

  • No my up line lie to me and now there making money . They have forgotten all about me. That why I say listing to you. I know I can do it I just need training. And you offer that great thank you

  • Hi Mark, these learnings from you are changing my life for the better, (one step at a time) which is great because by building on solid foundations, the sky is the limit! I have often wondered how to bridge the gap between wanting to be successful and actually being successful. You have shown me the way, this time next month there’ll be nothing but profound improvement thanks to your enlightenment. I’m so grateful for your words of wisdom and encouragement. Warm Regards, Ninette 🙂

  • I’ve been in NWM for many years and have done well. But after listening to your training these past 90 days or so has been quite a eye opener. I anxiously await the next trainings on making calls WITH new people….not sending them to the sharks as you put it. This is the skill I think I’ve been searching for that will make a difference.

  • Mark,

Wow, it just makes sense. Helping others the right way.
I will make sure I take care of my business this way. I’ll be watching for more videos and re read your blog

  • Hi Mark,

Absolutely loving what you teaches here! This is the ultimate hands-on support system that so many new members would love to have!

This is indeed the way for setting up new members for success. The initial perception that prospecting is easy matters!

    With Sincere Appreciation, Mark!

  • Hi Mark,
Lov your stuff you are talking to me. We had.a unique problem. We were massively successful earning top leadership levels, earning over 1.9 million dollars.. So what could be the problem? When the marketing system changed we had to go back to a more traditional mlm approach. Surprise surprise we had never developd the skills. Up popps Mark with exactly the tool. Box we needed. Thanks for saving our bacon. Spoken as a new vegetable dense diet person. Thanks Bob n Joellen Hooper

  • Hi Mark,

Sorry I just need to clarify to make sure I get it 100%. I understand the value of never working alone. My question is this: If I call the prospect and do the invitation myself (and let’s say it’s a conference call and my team is listening), doesn’t that still give the prospect the impression that he will have to make the invitations to his future prospects as well? Or would it be better for me to introduce my up-line to the prospect, even if I feel very comfortable making the calls myself? In other words, when do I stop introducing my upline and instead just make calls myself (and hopefully people on my team are listening too). Or for the sake of showing the prospect that all he will be doing is introducing people, should I try to never invite my prospect myself, no matter how successful I am? Does that make sense? I would appreciate some clarification.

  • Mahalo Robert…..

We appreciate your very kind words…..but let’s be fair here….you did what good business owners do – solved the problem…instead of deciding to be a victim, you made the choice to be a champion

Congrats on your success, not hard to see why you keep winning! BRAVO!

  • Dear Mark and Davene..

Go90Grow, T&GR and all of your guidance and support has truly changed my business, and my life……The personal growth and skills make all the difference and I am forever grateful…

My friend, and Q Angela Piccone and I were chatting about you last nite after a meet…We are sometimes surrounded by network marketing mania obsessed with giving up life now as you know it with one motive -for faster wealth at all costs…..So much drama and uncaring about others true growth and success. We see so much clearer now.

We are so thankful to you…We were rejuvenated from reminders of your teachings, and the value of real growth, caring and honesty needed for long lasting success! We talked of how forever grateful we are for learning what is most important for “authentic” meaningful growth in business, and in life. Hope Ang doesn’t mind me writting this but she texted me this morning the same thoughts so thought i would share with you …….PS WE ARE MAKING IT TO HAWAII GO 90 GROW next year!!!!

  • Mark J, I will put your ideas to work. You’d think I was from Missouri with some of my attitude. What you say makes all the sense in the world. Incorporating these skills consistently will provide personal proof that a solid team can be built.

    Thanks Mark J.

  • Hey Mark,

What does someone do that cannot make calls “with” their new people because they have a job AND their upline is not on the same page as you with following the “system”. I am having this problem. I know there are a ton of people in this situation.

I hope you will respond soon.

God Bless you for sharing this incredible information with all of us.

  • Aloha Lee

It is a problem…..I had it, and, as you point out, others face it too….

    1. Decide to become the sponsor and upline you would love to have [this quickly kills the problem for your team as it grows]
    2. Embrace it
    3. Solve it……all businesses face problems…..and those that solve them win….those that don’t solve them lose…..

What I did was get a few peeps in……pioneering is HARD….but…..NO BAD HABITS to break…..and we all supported each other in the early going whether it was ‘income’ or not….soon a team of closers emerged…and we were off to the races…..

It was the ’embarce’ that did it…….I embraced the problem and decided there was a way…….and people become winners once they believe ‘there is always a way once you know there is always a way’

    go for it!
