IS IT THAT SIMPLE?
Are the words we use the key to sponsoring more?
Talk about a sure thing. You can bank on it.
Let’s get one thing straight right up front… leads do not build leaders.
If your friends and relatives didn’t like what you had to say, why in the world would you believe strangers would?
Only the inexperienced or fearful would fall prey to the nonsense the bottom feeders, with their promise of ‘massive lead flow’, are peddling.
When I was working leads with 2 different direct sales companies way back in the 1970s I quickly learned that leads don’t mean squat if you can’t convert them. How was it that at both M.O.N.Y. and Britannica, working the same number of leads, from the same source of advertising, with the same exact support and same products the same 2-3 hotshots and myself produced, month in and month out far greater results?
Words.
How could I, month in and month out be the top producer?
The magic sequence of words.
How could wifey, The Fabulous Davene, instantly be the top producer for 2 years at a Honda Presidential Dealership when she never sold anything in her life?
She too surrendered to the idea that the words we use and the order we put them in will make or break us.  Leads don’t mean squat if you can’t convert them. And while we’re on that subject, why the hell would anyone believe that strangers would like what we had to say when our friends did not? Duh?
Chelsea gets serious…
When my daughter Chelsea finished her third read of Think and Grow Rich, (grab a free copy here, cool site, no upsells), she formed a Definite Major Purpose, (DMP). One that would, she felt, connect her to her higher self and make, eventually, a difference in the world.  (Hates, really hates GMOs in food).
So she came to me and said, “Dad, I’ve got my DMP and I want to make the first 2 steps happen in 12 months, not 5 years.”
“Earn it,” I said.
“No Dad, I don’t want help financially, I want this to be mine. So I’ve got an idea to get to Kauai and get this rolling fast but I need to sell the idea to make it happen and be a grown-up.”
“Yeah?”
“How do I sell the idea? It never seems you are selling but, well, you know, you make things happen. Will you teach me how?”
I told her… “Words. The right words make money, the wrong words don’t.”
So she learns, in a matter of minutes, (much brighter than dear old dad), and makes it all happen in 8 months.
Moves here.  Lands a job in a place she can put her dream into action, promotion, promotion, and promotion follow. She’s starting a movement.  She knows how to talk to people, she knows how to pick the right words.
We chat about it one day and I told her I’ve got a problem trying to get people to understand leads don’t build leaders. I tell her “I’ve been screaming leads don’t build leaders but people keep throwing hard earned money away on that garbage. They hear me but …they keep making this terrible choice. It’s like they hear it but they’re not listening and acting on the message. I’ve got to find a way to prove it’s the words and sequence that people use.”
Sponsor More With the Right Words
See, if you can get more people to look and say ‘yes’ you don’t need as many people. Everybody knows the big money in networking isn’t in sponsoring more, it’s in getting more people sponsoring. So I ask the magic words, “Got any idea, honey?’
She says, “Let’s do a palindrome,” to communicate how important the sequence is.
“What the hell is that?” I ask her.  She does a role reversal on me… tells me to look it up, just like I always told her.
I do.
A palindrome is a word, phrase, number, or other sequence of units that may be read the same way in either direction.
She says, ‘Let’s make it frontwards it shows words don’t matter, just leads and then backward it gets your point across.’
It was fun working on this together and, like Chelsea said, “Dad, if they listen to this and still don’t think words and the sequence is the difference between success and failure, they’ll never get it.”
Here are 2 skills that will help you get a ‘yes’ on demand, rejection free.  It’s never about sponsoring more, is it?  It’s about getting more people sponsoring and the words we use and sequence of those words is the difference between success and failure. Once you know how to do it, simply teach it to your team and – BAM! – you’ll have more people sponsoring.
And while we are at it, let’s deal with all this balderdash about investing time with Facebook Systems.  Folks, they’ve been around for better than 4 years, these alleged ‘Social Media’ – ahem – ‘Magic Systems’ …and, to date, we’ve never heard from a single person who built a successful MLM group using them. The guys and gals peddling this garbage tell you it happens, but what MLMer do you know, in your company, that has done it with hundreds of people in their group successfully?  Does the number ‘zero’ strike a familiar note?
Is social media important? Â Yes, in today’s world it is.
Is there a way to use it? Â Yes
Most MLMers use it backward…’looking for leads’ and have never been taught that ‘content is king.’
Building groups in the 1000s that have paid 100s of 1000s was done by sponsoring 27 people.
How?
We knew the right sequence of words and taught them, hands-on, what to say so they would never run out of people to talk to.
How does that work?
If you learn to get a ‘yes’ 80% of the time to looking and showing up, you collect more decisions and sponsor more people.
It’s their list that keeps you in business, that supplies an endless flow of leads…
And really, what would you rather call? Â Strangers or people who know and like the person you just sponsored.
While I’m on the bully pulpit here, let’s also get past the dopey notion that we ‘don’t have to bother our friend and relatives.’
I like my friends, I like my family and, here comes common sense …if it ‘bothers’ my friends and relatives why would we believe it won’t ‘bother’ strangers? Â Good grief.
Let me know what you think.

WoW! That is amazing!!! Reading it from the top down made my thoughts confused and didn’t really get it, then reading from the bottom up, it made so much sense and harmony with me.
Maybe that is why I have always read something from the bottom up first.
In high school I struggled with reading the left to right top to bottom. I had a test in English class and knew I did not understand my own native language so I was going to have fun with it that day.
Well, the teacher did a test with the instructions being in a sequence 1,2, 3, etc. There were 25 instructions, I decided to read from the bottom up that day and I remember this like it was yesterday.
I went to the last instruction 25 and it said if you read this first, turn in your paper for an A+! I remember the joy, excitement! I was the first to turn in my paper in 5 minutes after it was handed out. And, it also said congratulations you get to go to lunch early!
I was not the top of my class, that day I was on top of the world! My class mates felt cheated and got mad saying it was not fair. What I think the teacher was looking for was if students read the instructions from 1-25 or like me were all over the place and started at the bottom. I made a B in English class because my teacher was able to figure out how I learn.
A palindrome? That is a cool word!!! I get it, words in the right sequence makes all the difference in getting more Yeses, and this is something I will play with as well. You and Chelsea are truly masters of the Palindrome! 71.17 is with numbers. Thank you for this knowing!!!
What a cool word and what a cool example!! my first reaction to the word i have never heard before…palindrome…was Tina Turner & Met Gibson….you have to be an old movie nut to get that. Anyway thanks for this! a great way to remember the importance of word choices and timing.
WON of your best Mark!! The first step is the most important.

I agree – leads do not build leaders –
But once your skill set is excellent – a nice influx of good leads is appreciated 🙂
