duplication

“I can’t get duplication.”

Duplication Is A Skill

I hear it all the time.   I tell them that they are getting duplication.

“No, I am not.”

“Yes, you are.”

“No, really, I am not.”

“Yes you are and I can prove it.”

“Prove it.”

“25 bucks?”

“Huh?”

“I’ll bet you 25 bucks you are getting duplication and that I can prove it with a couple of phone calls.”

They always take the bet.   I never make them pay.  They are in enough pain.

It usually takes 1 or 2 phone calls to their leaders.

Care to take a guess as to what those leaders say?

Yup, they say EXACTLY the same thing.   “I’m not getting duplication.”

“See, you are getting duplication.”

Some of them don’t get it right away.   The ones that don’t want to ‘rephrase’ what they meant but eventually come around.

Duplication Is Everywhere

The natural order of things is duplication.

Plants, animals… even you and I began as a single cell.

Duplication Cannot Be Taught
Duplication Cannot Be Taught

And, no matter what you may believe, your group is duplicating because it is the natural order of things.   The only way things don’t duplicate is when we get in and screw it up.

And, the inter-webbie thing has made it easier for network marketers to screw it up more than ever and faster.

It’s not IF we are going to get duplication, it’s WHAT we duplicate that matters.

True yesterday, today and it will be tomorrow:

Whatever we set in motion will carry in motion.

Turns out all my frustration about duplication ended when I finally figured out 2 simple things about duplication.

First, it’s just a 4 syllable word for ‘copy’ – our groups will copy what we do, not what we say.

Second, duplication is ‘caught, not taught.’  Like so many well-meaning networkers I was trying to ‘teach’ duplication… good grief.

And… I got duplication.  All my leaders duplicated me and started ‘teaching’ duplication.

I was duplicating alright… just not what I should have been.

Needless to say, the discovery was embarrassing and hilarious at the same time.   Turns out, of all the network marketing skills, duplication is the easiest.  By far.

I’ve put that skill up for you right here (duplication skill) and, as usual, you won’t be led to some up-sell, sales page or pitch.   We’ve been off for a couple of weeks and wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year and do something cool for our readers so we’ve added a second free network marketing skill as a way to show our appreciation for sharing our posts during 2012.

We appreciate you …and hey, if you would, let me know below what your challenges are and we’ll write a post about it.

About the Author

  • Mark J, I caught the virus duplication from you!!! I love it!!!
    I am contagious!

  • Mark,

Beyond great stuff… per usual. The greatest challenge? Having fun and coaching/showing others how to have fun. The definition of goal is, an object or event towards which PLAY is directed in order to score. Collapse score with goal… play disappears. No play, no fun. If you can’t figure it out… just start playing and fun appears. So will the goal and the score takes care of herself.

    Love you

  • As always awesome, blog Mark.

Say when do you & Davene think you’ll put up some videos examples

of cold calls ,warm list calls, friends we haven’t seen since high

school calls. One thing is you explaining them,it’s quite another

thing you doing a role play call on a video with scripts.

Everything you’ve put up till now ‘ROCKS’, but I like to watch

video skills over & over (7 diff. ways from 7 diff angles)I just

learn better that way. Thank you for all you guys do!!!

    Fred S.

  • I have gotten so much out of all your blogs and webinars. It like turning on a light bulb. It is funny, in the beginning you think I wonder if I will ever be able to succeed. Then all of a sudden it’s staring you in the face. What a joy! That is when you almost could do cart wheels. Thanks!!!

  • Great stuff Mark. Now i understand what some people do so much better than others. Glad you are one of those rare folks that will share what works, and how to implement

  • Duplication; Oh so simple, but I will try to wrap my mind around your simple statement above, then simplify to others the beauty of what you have shown me.

    Thank you;

    Jim Fry
