SPONSORING QUOTIENT

There’s an old saying, “we improve what we measure.”

So what are most people measuring these days?

  • Friends on Facebook?
  • Twitter Followers?
  • Facebook Fan Page “Likes”?

And improving those numbers does what?

Talk about a bunch of crap, but I love it.

Really.

Want to know why?

No one doing those things is competing with real business builders.  I kind of like knowing these moronic promotions and the morons promoting them is ZERO competition.

See, some people build social media ‘clout’ and they want people to think it matters.  But everybody knows, in their heart, that won’t build your business.

And I’ll let you in on something.  It doesn’t build their MLM either.   Just their tool sales.

Got a question for you, seriously.   Do you really believe that is work and it will work?

Do people really believe that high visibility on social media will lead them to success?

How is giving something away… if you’ll ‘like’ their fan page… going to build a business?

Do you really believe advertised bribes to get ‘likes’ is a sound business?

My point? You know, just like most people, the old saying, ‘we improve what we measure’ is true.

So we don’t worry about ‘likes’ …and spend your time measuring it.

We decided to measure the one thing that matters most.

I mean really, is it a popularity contest or a business?

And I’ll tell you something else… you measure your SQ and improve that and you’ll be a very popular gal or guy.

What’s SQ?  It’s everything if you want to build a big MLM group.

“If horses were wishes then beggars would ride”

Now I’ll be the first to admit I wish it was different, that I could just blow people off to a website or sizzle call.

But they just don’t go and the few that do, don’t enroll.

Highest SQ is face-to-face.

Lowest?  Sending people to a site.

For goodness sake, don’t send them to the site.  Let’s be honest.  About 1 in 10 go and better than 90% you try to reach pull David Copperfield’s and vanish.

Well-meaning up-teams and gurus alike want you to believe it’s a numbers game, but it isn’t.  It’s a skills game.

If we want to make some money in MLM, we need to improve our network marketing skills that sponsor more. (Go through ‘what goes through the prospect’s head’ first – all free, of course).

We’ve got to determine if they are a possibility or a genuine prospect.

Possibilities will break your heart because they are NOT sponsor-able.

A prospect is a possibility who has shared ‘why’ they need to look at this business.

Skills Are The Missing Piece to Success, Not More Numbers

We do this with a skill called an Up-Front Contract.  We share this skill in Go90Grow© so make sure you get on the early notification list to get this 3 part video series…

Once you’ve determined you have a REAL prospect, don’t send them some place on the web.   Meet them and share your biz.

If you can’t, do a screen share with them.

Here’s the golden rule about improving your SQ

The higher the engagement personally and the more control you have over the presentation, the higher the SQ.  In other words, face to face and you showing the plan.

The lower the personal engagement and less control over the sequence they see things in… the lower the SQ.

And remember, we can’t teach what we don’t know and knowing how to improve your SQ means you can teach your teammates to improve theirs.   And that, not ‘likes’ on a Fan Page, will get you LOVED… not just liked.

Here are a couple of screen shares that are very easy to use.

This means they can see your screen, you’re talking to them and controlling the presentation.   A great alternative if you can’t hook up face to face.

Join me  They’ll be seeing your screen in seconds.

Skype has one that is free.

Screen Leap is free, no downloads and instant… very cool.

Screen Sharing Increases Your SQ and it Duplicates

Personally, I prefer about a 6-8 slide power point and a conversation.

You should be able to get your SQ quickly to 40% and no more no-shows, meaning if they want to see it, they are going to see it right now… most excellent bump in the SQ

Favor please – let me know, below, if you believe knowing how construct an effective presentation is something you’d like us to post up or you and your company have a great one already, one that closes sales.

The coolest thing about a short 6-8 slide presentation is that it duplicates faster.  And everybody knows duplication is caught not taught, it’s a skill.

  • Great as always Mark,

I am always looking for a better presentation. I won’t stop until I make one where 99% of the people who see it say yes, join and duplicate.

This should be the easiest business on earth. the challenge is finding people who are truly interested and motivated; or how to create such people.

    Sincerely,
    Bruce Nelkin LMT

  • great training Mark – I’ve been using the internet for a number of years now and can say with 100% certainty – it does NOT build your MLM – you do (or don’t as the case may be).

The gurus who preach attraction marketing using social media are selling their own back-end products, which most of the time do nothing more than take up your time and distract your focus.

The BIG problem is that these lies are so widepread, most folks run a mile when you suggest they start talking to people 😉

    Crazy!

Anyway, you’re a walking, talking advert for skills based marketing and business building and spreading the truth! Keep doing what you’re doing Mark.

    Neil

  • Hey Mark can you show us an example of a good 6 – 8 slide presentation to use on Join Me etc. Even better what one are you using?

As usual your trainings are the best.

Thanks for sharing. You’re keeping me in the game.

  • Great advice as always Mark!! MLM Belly to belly always the highest ratio but this is headset to head set.

  • Hi Mark. 100% spot on. Relationships make a huge difference. In fact relationships are the vital, irreplaceable core. Using the screen sharing program is, guess what – a SKILL – another simple skill to add to your collection so that you can more easily develop and nurture relationships. A Question – I wonder if you make sure that you cover a very particular set of points in your 6 – 8 slide presentation. Cheers. Harry

  • Hi Mark, I am really excited about learning how to construct an effective presentation that can be done on join me or screen leap.

Thank you for being present always.

    Paul

  • Hi Mark,

I find your blog very insightful and thought provoking. I am always looking for new ways to build my business, I agree that sending prospects to a website is not a effective as meeting them face to face.

I find people are usually short on time and if we could provide them a quick presentation it will improve our results.

    Cheers,
    Paul

  • ALoha Harry…..

Yes, I cover 3 key points…..any more than 3 and you confuse/lose them.

Prior to the presentation we make the prospect make a presentation as to why we should invest time together….this is a key skill, it’s where the money lives, that we teach in called ‘The Prospect Presents’

If this is done, you’ll close 80%+ that you show the plan to

Thank you for your kind words……and your very, very sage advice/warning about the social media bottom feeders. I really hope folks get what you are saying, it’s prfound.

My good pal, “Big Al” calmed me down one day when I was in a rant about the thousands of bucks people waste on this crap by telling me ‘you can’t stop people from hurting themselves but you can offer an alternative’ It jsut can’t be said often enough….LEADS DON’T BUILD LEADERS

Really appreciate you stopping by Neil

Keep growing…keep carrying your message, it’s a great one

  • Hi Mark,

by all means, please post ‘How to Construct an Effective Presentation. I enjoy your style of teaching, thank you!

  • I’ve got to change my Internet mentality. You’re so right Mark – they hardly ever go to your website when you send them there. This training was so powerful.

  • I agree with you Mark. I enjoy your videos and great expertise. I just learned how to do a join me presentation and I am very excited and ready to add that to my arsenal and keep practicing and presenting

  • Favor please…..let me know, below, if you believe knowing how construct an effective presentation is something you’d like us to post

  • you’re welcome Mark.

Here’s a question you will be able to answer (I’m sure):

My wife and I have recently joined a newly launched company (about a year or so old now and in the health and beauty MLM niche) – it doesn’t have a huge amount of tools in place right now but we’re happy with where the business is heading so ready to knuckle down and go to work 😉

Anyhow, we’ve both (yes, that’s actually both of us!! BIG up to you as the only person my wife has ever listened to – let me know your secret!)… okay, we’ both been looking at your scripts and planning how best to use them to create duplication and are using two “types” of script based on the “most people” model..

    1. “most people…” as you outline for “the opportunity”
    2. “most (salon owners/salons/beauticians etc).. to introduce/approach/set up appointments from the product angle

Any tips on how you might approach the bridge from 2 to 1 and how this might be best done – i.e. should we approach with the product, get the salons to retail first and then introduce the MLM model on the second or third follow up or be up front with the entire model?

    Appreciate your time Mark.

  • Yeah baby!!! I love it. New hope! I’ve been suffering from guilt because I always feel like I need to be more engaged with the social media, and if feels like such a burden! Having to constantly keep up with FB, LI and the tweety-bird. I know its heresy to say, but honestly, I feel like its all for the birds. I’d be just as happy if they didn’t exist. So if that’s not necessary, all the better! …And yes, I’d love to see your ideas, Mark, on putting together a concise 6-8 slide PP! Thanks!

  • If we’ve done our job, prior to showing the plan…..90+% should enroll UNLESS we talk them out of it…..unfortunately, this is usually the case.

    Short is better than long
    Shorter is better than short

  • Aloha Daniel

Dude…..it’s not heresy…..you are dead center …..it’s for the birds

In the go90grow© course we teach you how to build a presence and use all that stuff in 15 minutes 3x a week.

It is such a waste of time and all the bottom feeders have created this illusion that it will build your business. It will not. Your judegement is SPOT ON – trust it.

Should we have a social presence? Yes, but….and this is a big but…it will not build your business…skills do. Limit it to 1 hour a week and let it grow organically and authentically

  • I love your passion for the truth!!!
You and your mastermind alliance are consistently doing what R.W.Emerson did, ‘love the good’.
The internet can be bad, or good. You chose to use the technology to the good. I love that there are free tools to do “headset to headset”.
Now I know I can share the business with people all over the world using this techie stuff Even this Blue can do!
I would like to add my vote for your take on a 6-8 PP Pres. Just to get me going and to PPPPP!
Mark you are the leader I want to be and you make it possible.
I caught duplication in go90grow and I am fired up for Kauai’!

  • Hi Mark…
great info as usual…you mentioned a 6 – 8 slide Powerpoint to use with the free programs in your training…any suggestions as to what the slides should be to have the most impact on prospects?
    thanks

  • Aloha Eddie

The key is really what takes place prior to the presentation and making them declare that they really are a prospect.

If they are…..and that is the BIG IF…..then what you show them needs to be very little….

Let’s face it….most networkers talk prospects out of it without realizing it…..

They want more time, money and lower taxes……we offer more time, more money and lower taxes…..all the nonsense about payplans, our scientists and beat up your scientists etc……TALKS THEM OUT OF IT!

Focus on their needs and wants, which are determined prior to the presentation…..if your not sure how to do this, make sure you grab the free skills videos we are releasing on the 11th….you can get them a day early here…

  • Once upon a time, I gave presentations face to face or alongside them and walked them through my presentation. A single 7×11 sheet of paper with eight boxes connected with lines. I filled in the boxes, wrote down numbers and at the end of the ‘pitch’ asked them for their answer. My SQ was over 97% for three years, I averaged over 33 a month … then I stopped. I then handed out VHS tapes… or worse mailed hundreds to strangers! GREAT websites claim 2% SQ is gold! Most are lucky with 1% or worse. You want to sponsor ten this quarter? Send 1000 “targeted” AND qualified people to your site and MAYBE ….

Thank you Mark for this because I forgot and Join.me and Screen leap can move me back to above 25 SQ at least. With the net perhaps you can do more than one at the same time!? I’ll figure it out.

You just saved me a huge amount of time by the way!

  • Just read this, have been on extended away but saved it to read. Have started to work o a 6-8 slide presentation but up to16 in short order.
If there is anything out there tha would help me I would really appreciate it. I have several contacts that are not local.
Thank you for growth you demonstrate and share
