A business is a business is a business.   Whether it is a home-based business or a brick-and-mortar what happens in the fourth quarter will make or break businesses.

WHAT MAKES OR BREAKS BUSINESSES?

Money?

Leads?

Prospects?

Salespeople?

Exposure?

Advertising?

I guess you could make a case for any one thing or even a few that one could say make or break a businesses.   It’s not that complicated.  Every year, around this time, I share what happened to me and how it changed everything.   Around February or March, I’ll get a few emails thanking me for sharing this simple idea but I wonder about the other couple thousand that saw the blog.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not looking for pats on the back.  I just cannot imagine what other people are thinking when it comes to the upcoming year.

In addition to finishing strong, planning is the most important thing, way past that list above.  All those things that are not working in a business are by-products of planning and execution.

Everything changed on these 9 words for me back in the early 1990’s.   It will work for you too.   I, if I may, guarantee that failure to reach goals and beyond is ensured for people who fail to plan and, equally important, fail to set their mind up for success with these 9 words.

CERTAIN THINGS

It’s not that winners do certain things, it’s just that they do things in a certain way.   What we are really sharing here is common sense, yes?   To learn what you’d like to improve and then improving inch-by-inch, day-by-day through the fourth quarter is not anything you really need to think hard about.

To be significantly better in November and “dialed” in through December… or to be one of those sad souls who has failed, year after year to keep resolutions and yet making more empty promises to him or herself January First.   Your opinion of who would own 2017 as a breakthrough year?   Talk about a no-brainer.

So how do we improve?

IT ALL BEGINS IN THE MIND

Like I shared in the video, list ONLY what you have done right this past year then make a list of the top 3 things you’d like to improve.   This puts you in the right mindset going forward.   The mind is really what will make or break businesses.  (And a lot of other stuff too.  Like all other stuff.)

At some point, and I’ve blogged about this often, we all need to surrender to the fact, (it is no theory), that it all begins in the mind.   Imagine gaining control over your mind, your thoughts and finding your authentic purpose.   Imagine having an expert help you, hands-on, write it out and then developing your written plan.

But mostly, imagine have mindset set to execute that plan effortlessly.

And imagine having 3 months of that under your belt by January first.  Think 2017 might, just might be your breakthrough year?   I know, dumb question.   Yet, most people do not know that is the “certain way” that real winners operate.

Look, a vision without a plan is just a fairy tale.   And Edison was very clear about execution…without execution, we might as well be on heavy drugs if we think our dreams will manifest.
